Tips on Transplanting!

Spring and fall are the ideal seasons for transplanting.
Are your plants ready for this step?
Are roots emerging from the bottom of the pot?
Do they require watering more than once a week?
I recommend starting with a clean pot that is just one inch larger. Most plants prefer to be root-bound; in fact, many blooming plants won’t flower unless they are. I choose a potting soil that contains minimal peat moss, as too much can keep indoor plants overly wet, leading to a fungus gnat issue—these bugs resemble fruit flies.
Gently massage the moist root ball and place one or two handfuls of soil at the bottom of the pot, ensuring there’s a water line at the top. Add soil to the sides and on top, pressing down until firm. Water the plant, pressing down, and continue to do this monthly thereafter. Only transplant when necessary, and always allow the new plant some time to acclimate to its new environment before considering another transplant.
